Residential Shared Supported Accommodation
Just over 12 months ago the Directors of See Change Supported Accommodation over a cup of coffee one night discussed the need for accommodation with a difference for people with a disability. This concept then developed and grew over the past year to become a reality See Change Supported Accommodation. The Directors of See Change have committed to offer shared supported accommodation with a hint of luxury and in a picturesque location. We at See Change are committed to providing a wide range of accommodation options designed to cater for most needs and provide accommodation that anyone would want to live in.
Your Home
See Change Supported Accommodation can accommodate 6 permanent and/or respite beds for people with a disability. Each person will have their own bedroom with ensuite for the ultimate in privacy. Our private bedrooms also have a television, small refrigerator, wardrobe and king single bed. Most rooms have a view of the picturesque Portarlington coastline. We want you to feel at home and enjoy the stunning rooms we have personally refurbished.
Common Areas
Whilst we at See Change realise that you need your privacy and your ‘own space’ we have also catered for common social areas. The kitchen is shared area where you can make a snack and if you are staying at See Change you will have access to tea/coffee/milo/cocoa making facilities. Your friends and families can also relax and spend time with you at See Change in our open common area. In this area you can play a game of pool, watch tv or video together, or share a hot drink and snack. See Change is also proud to announce our recent development of an indoor/outdoor recreation area for people who are staying with us. In this recently renovated area you can enjoy our undercover BBQ area and outdoor seated area or in the cooler months enjoy the warmth of the indoor area which has it’s own split system heating/cooling, In the indoor recreation area you will also be able to enjoy a game of table tennis watch tv/videos together use the tea/coffee making facilities and relax in our comfortable seated area. There is also a refrigerator to store snacks or drinks for your convenience.
Settling In
The Directors and staff of See Change realise that moving into new accommodation requires a settling in period. The staff of See Change will be there to familiarise you with your new surrounds. We will work in partnership with you through this phase to identify you needs and goals to assist you to achieve the life you want. We will be guided by your wishes every step of the way to make this transition a smooth one.
An Individual Plan Just For You
The staff of See Change recognise that no two people are the same therefore a one size fits all plan does not work. We will meet with you and together we will assist you to develop a care plan that identifies they types of supports you require on a day to day basis. We will also assist you to identify goals that are meaningful to you and create a goal plan that just doesn’t identify your goals but maps out a realistic pathway to achieve them.
Remaining Connected
At See Change we believe in a holistic approach to your care. We will assist you to stay connected with your family and friends. We can deliver this in a number of ways. Firstly, your family and friends are welcome to come and visit you at See Change. Secondly, See Change also offers people who stay with us free internet access. Thirdly See Change believes that you should have every opportunity to connect with the local community through our various programs you can have the opportunity to connect with the local community of Portarlington in a variety of ways.
Respite Accommodation
Respite - What Does It Mean?
Respite services provide planned short term, time-limited breaks for families and other unpaid carers of young people and adults with a disability with the intention that families/carers resume care at the end of the respite period. They are services that assume the caring role during the period of respite.
The Importance of Respite
Respite provides families and carers with that much needed opportunity to revitalise. We realise that being a caregiver can be a demanding role and it is important to take breaks that allow you to focus on you and your physical and psychological health. We will temporarily provide all care services that allows you to have the peace of mind and relax knowing that your family members needs are our priority in your absence.
Respite can be fun for those who need this service. Respite can mean meeting new people, making new friends and trying new activities. Respite can be like having a holiday! At See Change you can enjoy a game of pool, table tennis, go for a walk on the beach, go and meet the animals at Winged Horse Equine Inc. There are many fun things to choose from it’s up to you what you would like to do.
Aims of Flexible Respite Service
- To maintain the caring relationship for the long term
- Improve the wellbeing of the carer/family and the person being cared for
- Support the caring relationship and attend to short term support needs
- Provide immediate or preventive measures where necessary
- Provide access to social and recreational activities for the person in respite
- To increase the confidence and level of independence as well as improve the quality of life of the person in respite.
Respite Care Options
Respite can be as individual as you are and we understand that one size does not fit all. That’s why at See Change Supported Accommodation out respite care is built around flexibility. We will take the time to listen to your needs and preferences and design a plan that will work for you.
Funding and Fees
People seeking respite care services with us are generally funded through NDIS and TAC as well as other relevant government agencies. Our respite service is also available for people who are privately funded. We are happy to discuss your funding options with you to give you that peace of mind.

A 'Person Centred Approach' to Service Delivery
What Does 'Person Centred Approach' Mean?
A Person Centred Approach means that you are ‘in the driving seat’ when it comes to decisions related to you. This approach in practice means we work in partnership with you to assist you to identify fulfilling, rewarding and meaningful outcomes or goals. See Change staff will support and assist you to reach your identified outcomes and goals.
